Big thanks to Overbrook for taking some time to make and also send me a EP tutorial. Never a lack of generosity with this group!

Anyway, it aint all that purty, but it will pass for an EP fly. A little less material and I guess I need to purchase some of those fancy taperizer scissors so I can get the body to look a little better. I've got musky trip planned for this spring, so I think some bigger versions might work out allright and there are some bucketmouths that should be afraid!

Jeff.....I hate to b too much of a critic....but a couple of things....

1st...you need a much bigger heavier hook.....I don't think that little bronze hook is going to sink that fly. On a fly that size I would use a Gamakatsu SL11-3H in a 1/0 or an SC-15 in a 3/0. Below is one roughly the same size with the SL11-3H in a 1/0......

2nd....don't be afraid to trim a lot more down on the profile......I probably started with even more material than you....but cut away at the profile....just leaving enough for a fat head.....

Image

remember ...the hook is all the weight you have in this fly.
get some bigger hooks and some taperizer scissors...you'll get the hang of it.

On a seperate note....I saw where his bay anchovy seems to have a littl silver angel hair or wing &flash palmered around the head in front.....so I thought I would try it...it does'nt take much to add a lot of sparkle in the face of the fly....it looks pretty cool....you probably can't see it real well in this pic....

a close up.....

To give ya an idea....this is roughly what I would trim away from that fly presuming it was on a bigger hook....

just make sure you don't cut away the flash in the center.

No worries about being a critic, that is why I posted it. Thanks for the advice. Round 2 should look much better. I have some SL's that I will use next time
