Hey ya'll. I am looking for a pattern for small scuds. #18 to 24. Anyone got any suggestions?

Try a Ray Charles. It doesn't get any simpler....

if you have Randall Kaufmann's "Tying Nymphs" book, he has a vary easy and effective pattern. If you can stop by, you can copy it.

Good ideas everyone. Thanks for all the links. Now I have scads of scuds.

Tied up some 20's and 24's w brown vinyl rib on top and ultrafine tan(didn't have sand) dubbing w mono ribbing. Picked out the dubbing to resemble legs. Photos would be included but ever since the SoHo claimed my camera in the late fall I have been image-challenged.
Hope the fishies like 'em. Details to follow soon....

I was using them on the So Ho and the only thing I would add is that I found was to wrap small lead wire on first. All of the above patterns will catch fish, but i think you need a little something to get them down.

Just wondering, would a couple of #6 shot or a 6 and 4 shot be considered "a little something"? to get em down? ;)

Rather than weighting the fly, I'm from the school of JT.....unweighted flies and mo lead.
