The other night after a day at the hospital and reading to many fly fishing mags over the past two weeks I tried to post this. I read it the next day and realized it was pretty much a 'crap post' and took it down.

Attempt two to get some of you alls expert and/or experienced opinions with maybe a better post. I came home early today and picked up my son for some him time. He enjoyed and is now in toon land. Not the boat ;)

I saw this in American Angler. They fish these for smallies on a western river. I was wonder if you all thought they might work around the south east?

Here's my take of the fly. Chartreuse Caboose and Crawdad Candy
Image

Hook: 6 Nymph 2x
Antenna: Silly Legs
Eyes: Small dumbbell eye
Body: Chenille
Hackle: Streamer hackle to match the chenille

I though tying a fly or two might get my mind off things. It didn't really.

Irish that gives me some pretty strong confidence. You ever get to small mouth fish out that way anywhere?

I'm not an expert, but I love the simplicity of it, looks like it would work. I'll look forward to a field test report.

They are in the Yellowstone and the Big Horn down stream of Huntley and around Forsyth.

Also in the Tongue river in WY and MT. Bob Krumm outdoor writer for the Billings Gazette has been helpful.

Also are in Big Horn Lake created by the dam that makes the Big horn below it so famious.

I have a high school and college friend that is se MT supervising biologist and he has told me where. :D :D :D

It will be really neat to catch a 4 lber out of two famous trout streams.

Come on out in August/sept and we will float them and give it a try.

JFey simplicity is what caught my attention. I fish close to cover and the bottom when I'm after smallies. Give up a lot flies someday's seems like.

Irish I would love to come out if it was ever possible. Never got to fish with you when you were close. Might surprise you in a year or two :)
