I can't tie 18s or smaller without those silly assed reading glasses on. Can't tie them on without them either. Contacts have changed my vision totally. Use to not see well far. Good up close. Now the opposite. Makes me feel old :) okay back to some 20 black flids.

Kid, it happens to all of us. I've been wearing bifocals for over 20 years.

I can still see up close, but then I never messed around with contacts. I've always needed glasses to see far away.

Anyway, welcome to the club. I don't hear as well as I used to either....

Right there with you. Just got bifocals two weeks ago....what an adjustment!

Getting difficult to tie the smaller hooks onto the tippet too...can't see the hook eye.

Since I have accepted my fate: I can tie 20 midges and even tie them on to 6x tippet without having to hold them as far my arms will go. Got some 22 and 24 for blackflies. That will be the test.

after having cataract surgery and a new lens put in and having to wear a contact lens in the unaffected eye (to equal out the prescription), I can see distances again very clearly

the doctor then recommended a pair of "silly assed" reading glasses that allows me to see up close for fly tying. I certainly cant bitch about the glasses as they got me back to tying flies again

I really want to thank my eye doctor! I had a pair of prescription glasses for distance (with bifocals) and a pair of prescription glasses for computer work (with bifocals). that doctor has saved me a lot of money on any prescription glasses going into the future. he even gave me a pair of reading glasses. (well my insurance will pay for them)

I've been using Hateyes on the stream for 16 years now & Mageyes at the vise, google them, good stuff being our eyes are aging & you can buy different focal length's to go along with that.
