Is there a trick to getting a bead around a size 22 hook bend?

make sure its a 2.0 size bead to begin with.......when using the small hooks I put them in the vise and pick up the bead with a pair of tweezers...slip it over the point of the hook.....

Or ---you could throw away the bead and crimp on a piece of shot about 12 inches up the line

Allan,

If your using hooks as small as 22's you should be using a 1/16" or 1.5mm bead. Mash da barb down and you shouldn't have a problem.....cept dropping that little shit! Make sure you put the small hole in the bead on the point of the hook first.

Or, like JT said, tie em with out a bead and just use some shot to get em down.....aint no beads on Ju Ju Bees or Trout Crack!

Ralph ;) :D

What kind of hook are you trying to put the bead on? It can really be difficult to get the bead up past the bend on a typical striaght shank hook that small. I tie all my small stuff like that on scud/pupa type hooks like TMC 2488/2487 or Mustad C49. Much easier :D

Paul, I'm still around. Have no idea what I've been doing just know that I don't have enough time to do it. Going to be a Grand Pop next month, and maybe another 2 years I'll be hanging up the wrenches. Going to Nevada next week to do some fishing, got in touch with Cyberfish and he gave me a TON of good info, will post when I get back.
