I've been playing with a woven rusty spinner and can't come up with a wing that I really like. This one is on a #18 curved hook and has Z-lon wing with some krystal flash.

Looking for some good ideas.
Thanks

#10 what about CDC ? Remove the stem to keep them light --- let the air through to keep from spinning.

I was playing with your fly in a photo editor before I saw peewee's reply. Drew in some CDC wings. Been on a CDC kick this summer I guess :)

Great looking fly as is.

Looks great Gary. Don't think I'd change a thing really. After reading the replies I wondered what a little woodie flank mixed in with the wing you already have would look like.

Gary, I know what you mean, that zlon is too kinky. You might try antron. It has a similar look and texture, but isn't as kinky. I've also tried a few strands of krystal flash, which looks pretty good, but I'm not totally satisfied with that either. The quest goes on....

I kinda like the cdc idea myself for that smaller fly, if it was larger the yarns would most likly look better.
