Glad that is useful to folks. I didn't really recognize the full genius of Lefty Kreh. His knots alone are amazing - I mean, how do you invent a new knot? I just realized that he also invented my favorite knot for bass and other larger species - the loop knot. So easy even I can tie it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OCEHNr00s4

For new folks learning to fish, I think the three knots to learn are:
Lefty leader knot,
Lefty loop knot, and
Davy knot.

I will confess I don't use the Davy knot but if someone is starting out it seems that is the habit to develop.

I still vividly remember the day I drove 2 hours to fish, sat on the bank trying to tie a blood knot, and thought the whole fly fishing thing kind of sucked. Glad I got past that (with special thanks to our friend Bo Cash, who took me out and showed me wild fish and what fun it really was).

Here's one for the welded loops that fail, let's see if we can keep this thread going.

That's an easier way to tie a triple surgeons instead of a new not. New technique. Since I tie all my leaders with triple surgeons, I like it.

I've used a variation of the Turle knot since college. Love this one. Just can't find a vid of how I tie it. But this one is about as quick and probably a touch more secure with the extra loop.

here is a variation of the Lefty Leader knot using a hemostat - http://www.orvis.com/news/fly-fishing/c ... pPc.mailto Also exceedingly easy to tie.
